Random Thoughts Thursday
A "let's go to the movies" edition
* RUN, don't walk, to see "Little Miss Sunshine." It's the most fun I've had at the movies in YEARS. YEARS, people!
* I shall forever run like Steve Carrell's character from now on.
* The woman in line in front of me at the snack counter got nachos with jalepenos, a large Coke, a medium popcorn -- she spent, like $40 on that and candy. Didn't give it a second thought.
* $40 is well on the way to a nice evening at a restaurant with cloth napkins. I just can't justify spending it at the candy counter.
* The woman sitting behind me started giggling after the first joke and didn't really stop for the rest of the film. It wsa kind of like if she stopped, she wouldn't be able to start again.
* I think she needs a tune up or a new part or something.
* The please, turn off your cell phone now warning was offered four times. One guy behind me said, "I don't know how to turn it off." I'm like, "Give it to me. I'll take care of it." Now, where's the nearest trash can?
* I was surprised when the film started and I could hear the reel turning. Is that just a sound effect or are they still using actual reels?
* That would be cool, especially if the reel broke and the guy had to fix it. When he was done, I'd yell out, all Swedish chef-like, "The flim is okee dokee."
* After the movie was over, I wanted to applaud. You have to understand, the last two movies I saw -- "Clerks II" and "World Trade Center," also known as "What Complete Wastes of My Hard-Earned Money, Parts I and II" -- were awful. And also, Sunshine was really, really good.
* The last movie I remember being in an audience which erupted in applause for was "The Outsiders" when the Greasers beat the Socs in the big rumble.
* Apparently, I like quiet films that don't inspire the audience to choose sides most of the time.
* Or I should go to the movies more often. Wanna come?
* You have to buy the popcorn. I'm just saying.
