Random Thoughts Thursday

A "Bloggy Christmas Retrospective" edition by Tara Claus

(Click on photos to enlarge)

* O, Christmas Tree! O, Christmas Tree! Thank QVC for you-hoo!

* "You look ridiculous," says Yorkie to the lil' white doggie.

* "This is my best side," he says.

* Mommy loves them both.

* Despite his grumblings, Uncle loves them, too. Awwww.

* I am still full and am contemplating never eating again.

* I am still putting away the goodies Santa Mom and others bestowed upon me, including my camera (!), DVDs, books, earrings, Muppet ornaments, candles and other goodies.

* Gift cards burneth holes in my pockets. I shall spend, and soon.

* I am sick of red and bright twinkly lights.

* At CVS on Dec. 27, I passed the stock girl, well, stocking Valentine's candy. "Oh, that is so wrong," I said, out loud, before I knew it.

* What the heck. Jump start: Will you be my Valentine?

* I've been gifted in abundance.

* I am loved and supported.

* I ate more chocolate cupcakes than should be allowed.

* I wanted Merry and I got Merry.

* I'm so lucky.

* It really is the most wonderful time of the year!

Movie Mania!
Featuring the TLJ-
Roger Ebert 4-star system.
Usually, Rog and I agree. Usually.

The Dark Knight
TLJ: 3.5 stars
Ebert: 4 stars
I agree, it's an "engrossing tragedy." A great film that makes you think.

I Love You, Man
TLJ: 3 stars
Ebert: 3.5 stars
I liked it, too, Rog, but not as much as you. Yes, you're right -- Jason Segel is my new favorite guy though I do still love my Paul Rudd, too. I laughed enough that I was happy I rented it. Corny, silly, but smart in places, too.

Ballerina
TLJ: 2.5 stars
Ebert: No review online
This movie followed the ballerinas of the Russian Kirov and other ballets from youth to company. I liked learning how much the dancers sacrificed, how perfectionistic they are (even more than they're teachers and choreographers), and how dedicated, but what was missing? Dancing! They kept teasing me with brief pieces from various ballets. I wanted to see more of the payoff of their hard work.
