Random Thoughts Thursday

The "day late" edition

* But I'm not a dollar short. In fact, I have $20, cash back from a drugstore purchase.

* Want to go to the dollar store and buy 20 things?

* A headline: "Angelina takes maternity leave." Can someone explain to me how someone who works a few months at a time takes maternity leave really? Isn't her whole like like a vacation?

* She stole my name, dammit. Pax is a nickname I've used for years. YEARS.

* I'm a geek who enjoyed being thrown into Latin as a high school freshwoman.

* I still wonder about Cornelia and her family at the villa. Hope they are enjoying their vacation.

* Enjoying reading "Love Walked In" by Marisa de los Santos: I walked up the stairs to my apartment, carrying the moment carefully as though it were a glass globe full of butterflies.

* "Six Degrees" returns to TV this evening. That's right, Friday. I'm sure they'll show whatever they've filmed, then kill it. I really liked this show. *sigh*

* The birthday countdown continues: 20 days from yesterday, the official Random day of my week. 20 days until I have to say a new number.

* I like my old number. Actually, I like my number of about 5 years ago. That's right. 18.

* No, not really. But people do ask me what high school I go to. I know I look young, but....

* When in doubt in Trivial Pursuit, guess 7 or Sherlock Holmes.

* When in doubt in life, jump anyway.

* Don't you love the pinball action here on Random Thoughts Thursday? From silly to philosophilly.

* The shortest distance between the beginning and ending of a post is a bunch of sentences.

* Wise.

Movie Mania!
Featuring the TLJ-
Roger Ebert 4-star system.
Usually, Rog and I agree. Usually.

The Dark Knight
TLJ: 3.5 stars
Ebert: 4 stars
I agree, it's an "engrossing tragedy." A great film that makes you think.

I Love You, Man
TLJ: 3 stars
Ebert: 3.5 stars
I liked it, too, Rog, but not as much as you. Yes, you're right -- Jason Segel is my new favorite guy though I do still love my Paul Rudd, too. I laughed enough that I was happy I rented it. Corny, silly, but smart in places, too.

Ballerina
TLJ: 2.5 stars
Ebert: No review online
This movie followed the ballerinas of the Russian Kirov and other ballets from youth to company. I liked learning how much the dancers sacrificed, how perfectionistic they are (even more than they're teachers and choreographers), and how dedicated, but what was missing? Dancing! They kept teasing me with brief pieces from various ballets. I wanted to see more of the payoff of their hard work.
