Random Thoughts Thursday

A "don't just flash forward to the end of the post" edition

* I am watching "Flash Forward" and enjoying it. It could be my first date with appointment television since I broke up with Kiefer.

* I knew the answer would come from the kids, and so far, I'm right.

* Like in "V".

* They're apparently making a show of "V". Loved that miniseries!

* It's Rock-tober and we're currently listening to Journey.

* The real Journey, with Steve Perry, not the new fake version.

* Today's thought from the "Life is Good" book: "Everything is a once in a lifetime experience."

* I get what you're saying, little book I love, but the laundry feels like the same ol' chore to me.

* I'm flashing forward in my head to the day when I have a Jetson's robot or a machine that fluffs and folds for me. Or when someone invents decent-looking disposable clothes.

* Judging by the "gowns" they make us wear at the doctor, I'd say we're not there yet.

* We're, like, totally in the opposite direction of "there."

* Just pictured the doctor office gown with a pair of Christian Louboutins. Stylish!

* "Open Arms" is coming on. Gotta run -- it's time for my solo.

* Toodles.

Hey, I don't blame you for breaking up with Kiefer. I think his show has definitely jumped the shark.

And "Open Arms" always makes me think of going to the skating rink in 2nd grade and hearing it.

I also have horrible memories of seeing parts of "V" when I was an 8-year-old, and being scared to death!!

Movie Mania!
Featuring the TLJ-
Roger Ebert 4-star system.
Usually, Rog and I agree. Usually.

The Dark Knight
TLJ: 3.5 stars
Ebert: 4 stars
I agree, it's an "engrossing tragedy." A great film that makes you think.

I Love You, Man
TLJ: 3 stars
Ebert: 3.5 stars
I liked it, too, Rog, but not as much as you. Yes, you're right -- Jason Segel is my new favorite guy though I do still love my Paul Rudd, too. I laughed enough that I was happy I rented it. Corny, silly, but smart in places, too.

Ballerina
TLJ: 2.5 stars
Ebert: No review online
This movie followed the ballerinas of the Russian Kirov and other ballets from youth to company. I liked learning how much the dancers sacrificed, how perfectionistic they are (even more than they're teachers and choreographers), and how dedicated, but what was missing? Dancing! They kept teasing me with brief pieces from various ballets. I wanted to see more of the payoff of their hard work.
