Random Thought Thursday

A one-thought edition

* Do workers at the grocery store look at receipts for the day and wonder... "this customer bought filet mignon... and Spaghettios. Enigma."

Random Thoughts Thursday

A "cough cough sniff sniff sniff" edition

* Thank you, whoever shared your cold germs. I'm enjoying its visit in my sinuses.

* Please pass the tissues. And the RI-Co-LAAAAAAAAA.

* Chuckle passing a car wash the afternoon after a snow shower: "Yes, we're open. Salt eat cars."

* Dear Mother Nature, please keep the foot of snow they're saying we're going to get this weekend. Yesterday's 2 inches was lovely. The 2 feet in December was paralyzing, but pretty. Really, I'm good with snow for a long time. Thanks.

* Get it while it's hot! An article about a Delaware artist in The News Journal.

* I'm going to get tea whilst it's hot. Maybe that will help my sinuses. Sniff.

Random Thoughts Thursday

A thankful edition

* Thank you, "The Dark Knight," for being an awesome makes-you-think-a-bit flick. I'm becoming a fan of The Batman, as he's called in that movie, which I can't pass by when I'm channel surfing.

* Thank you, raindrops, for holding off whilst I walked around town today.

* Thank you, fellow walkers, who smiled back at me.

* Thank you, endorphins from walking, for the pick me up.

* Thank you, coffee shop chain, for raising prices of my tea, which will make it oh so much easier to stop getting it.

* Thank you, national magazine, for the personal rejection letter, which, as writers know, is more inspiring than a form letter. I will try to query you with another idea!

* Thank you, Jimmy Fallon, for writing thank you notes each week on your Late Night show. I just realized, even though I've done posts like this before, that this reminds me of that comedy segment you do.

* Thank you, Drew Barrymore, just for being you.

* Thank you, hoagie shop, for making good sammiches with romaine lettuce. Mmmm.

* Thank you, fingers, for making the song I'm learning on the piano actually sound like it's supposed to.

* Thank you, Nick at Nite, for "Roseanne" reruns from the really good years of that funny show.

* Thank you, sun, for setting so early. I do enjoy this time of year and the darkness coming early.

* Thank you, universe, for your awesomeness.

* And thank you, hair, for finally behaving after about a year of your rebellion. I *heart* you.

Random Thoughts Thursday

A Truly Random Edition

* I wrote about Capitol Steps. Fun.

* I also wrote about lighting design/the lighting designer for BalletX. Also fun.

* Wait... wait... I'm having a flash forward... I will... remember to actually watch "Flash Forward" tonight.

* I only saw snippets of the end of last week's show after I forgot it was on.

* But the snippets... OH MY! This show is getting better, fo' sho.

* I think fluffy towels should be banned. I've washed them a million times and they still don't suck. The water, that is.

* Dear Mr. ShamWow! How about a ShamTowel?

Random Thoughts Thursday

An epistle edition

* Dear Autumn,

Thanks for the lovely show. Nice job with the yellow this year. Love ya!

Sincerely,
She who love, love, loves your colorful leaves

* Dear Flash Forward,

Thanks for getting better this week. I was starting to get bored a little. You haven't reached the heights of "Will Jack Bauer Shoot His Boss Ryan Chapelle in the Head to Save Millions?" yet, but you're getting there.

Sincerely,
She who loves appointment TV and hasn't had appointments in a few years

* Dear Sandra Oh,

Please get off "Grey's Anatomy" and get something not so cheesy to do. You're super awesome!

Sincerely,
She who recently discovered this show and doesn't like it, but totally loves you

* Dear Cute Deli Guy,

Thanks for not laughing when I asked for exactly 6 pieces of Swiss cheese.

Sincerely,
She who'll only be making 3-4 reuben sammiches with it

* Dear Creative Guy I Interviewed for an Article,

Thanks for the inspiring conversation. It's always nice to talk with kindred spirits.

Sincerely,
She who better get to work writing that piece now

Random Thoughts Thursday

An "it's the little things, peeps" edition

* The snowflake lights are on the poles in town as of today! YAY!

* Winter will be here soon! WOO!

* Lovin' my bacon-mustard-lettuce sammich.

* Admiring the Big Bird trees -- is it me or is there more yellow this year?

* Lots of soapy bubbles that smell like orchids in the bathtub.

* Waving at some kid in the back of the bus and having him wave back like I was his long lost relative.

* Laughing at myself thinking he turned to his friends and said, "Hey, some old lady just waved at me!"

* Losing myself while playing Beethoven.

* Loving myself for my cooking ability, my positive attitude, and my growing black and white cow toy collection.

* Chick-Fil-A... tomorrow. YAY!

* Smiling. I am. Are you?

Random Thoughts Thursday

A "don't just flash forward to the end of the post" edition

* I am watching "Flash Forward" and enjoying it. It could be my first date with appointment television since I broke up with Kiefer.

* I knew the answer would come from the kids, and so far, I'm right.

* Like in "V".

* They're apparently making a show of "V". Loved that miniseries!

* It's Rock-tober and we're currently listening to Journey.

* The real Journey, with Steve Perry, not the new fake version.

* Today's thought from the "Life is Good" book: "Everything is a once in a lifetime experience."

* I get what you're saying, little book I love, but the laundry feels like the same ol' chore to me.

* I'm flashing forward in my head to the day when I have a Jetson's robot or a machine that fluffs and folds for me. Or when someone invents decent-looking disposable clothes.

* Judging by the "gowns" they make us wear at the doctor, I'd say we're not there yet.

* We're, like, totally in the opposite direction of "there."

* Just pictured the doctor office gown with a pair of Christian Louboutins. Stylish!

* "Open Arms" is coming on. Gotta run -- it's time for my solo.

* Toodles.

Movie Mania!
Featuring the TLJ-
Roger Ebert 4-star system.
Usually, Rog and I agree. Usually.

The Dark Knight
TLJ: 3.5 stars
Ebert: 4 stars
I agree, it's an "engrossing tragedy." A great film that makes you think.

I Love You, Man
TLJ: 3 stars
Ebert: 3.5 stars
I liked it, too, Rog, but not as much as you. Yes, you're right -- Jason Segel is my new favorite guy though I do still love my Paul Rudd, too. I laughed enough that I was happy I rented it. Corny, silly, but smart in places, too.

Ballerina
TLJ: 2.5 stars
Ebert: No review online
This movie followed the ballerinas of the Russian Kirov and other ballets from youth to company. I liked learning how much the dancers sacrificed, how perfectionistic they are (even more than they're teachers and choreographers), and how dedicated, but what was missing? Dancing! They kept teasing me with brief pieces from various ballets. I wanted to see more of the payoff of their hard work.
